PrivacyCheq was founded as AgeCheq in 2013 by seasoned mobile technologists to solve a variety of problems that exist at the intersection of privacy and mobile devices.
Our initial focus was on facilitating compliance with the recently updated Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (known as COPPA). Our flagship product, AgeCheq dramatically reduces the effort required to comply with the COPPA rules for both parents and mobile app publishers. The service is platform-agnostic and can be integrated into an existing app, tested, and posted to the app store within a day.
In March 2015, the company rebranded as PrivacyCheq, expanding our focus to include other markets where privacy notice and compliance required technical solutions.
The “Internet of Things” is a very rapidly advancing technology field that places connected sensors in homes, cars and even on clothing, allowing intelligence and analytics to be applied to save money, increase convenience, and improve health. By their nature, these devices collect personal information that must be handled properly and protected by manufacturers. But the nascent IoT industry has done a poor job of educating consumers on the use and protection of their private data, as noted by the chairwoman of the FTC at the 2015 Consumer Electronics show.
