Sandelman Software Works has been working on Internet of Things technologies since 2001.
There are many notions of what Internet of Things are. At Sandelman Software Works, words matter, and there are three words here.
The first is Internet. This means a network of networks originally, but capitalized, it refers to the the suite of protocols known as “”IP””. IPv4 is legacy 1980s technology, restricted to 32-bit addresses and fewer than 4 billion devices. IPv6, has been a standard since 1996, but was formally launched in 2012.
So IoT is about Things that run IPv6 to talk to other Things.
